When I replaced the toilet on my 34 I found that the bolts were tapped directly into the GRP, which is about 10 mm thick. No sign of any captive nuts. I managed to get the new toilet base to pick up two of the existing threads and drilled and tapped two new ones in the GRP. That was a couple of years ago and no sign of problems to date.
