Agree it is a real pain, but made progress today due to finding a 1" diam hole in the stern cabin roof midway between the aft end of the window and the bulkhead compass. Having removed the bung from this hole and the compass I eventually persuaded bits of stiff wire to introduce pullers between the hatch garage and the cable gully in the edge of the stern cabin head lining.
Without the 1" hole I doubt that I would have been able to feed between the gully and the compass. I can only assume it had been drilled for that perpose.
