The Sadler 25 MK I and II certainly had a shorter mast than the subsequent MK III. The higher rig was introduced during 1979 as far as I understand. From 1979 to 1981, the Sadler 25 had the same mast height as the subsequent Sadler 26 and this certainly gave the boat a little more power.
I have not been able to find my early records to respond accurately to this query, but my recollection is that the MK I ‘P’ measurement (main luff length) is about 0.5 metres less than the MK III. The E measurement (foot length) was probably about 0.1 metre more, putting it at about 2.7 metres. ‘I’ measurement (height of rig) for the MK III rig is 9.45 and ‘I’ dimension for the MK I rig would be approximately 9.0 metres. ‘J’ measurement for both rigs would be about 3.17 metres. Genoa ‘IP’ measurement (clew to luff) about 4.7 metres for Mark III and probably a little less at maybe 4.4 metres for the Mark I rig. With these measurements, you will be able to work out the areas.
Hope this helps, Mike
