Depends on the design of the transducer fitting - some allow the transducer to be pulled up to a high position in the tube, so that the impeller is actually inside the tube and not projecting below the bottom of the boat.
If you can't do this, don't fit it until you are afloat cos sods law says the impeller will get broken. Just make sure that you don't wear your best suit and that you have the transducer ready to instantly stuff into the hole after you take the plug off. The jet of water is quite powerful! Why not practice before you launch, if you haven't done this before.
