I have, with some trepidation, started using a cruising shute on my Sadler 34. However I am unceratin exactly what is the best way to rig the tack of the sail. Should I use a fixed length strop attached to the stem head as I have seen done? Would a block and tackle system be better? What mechanical advantage is required? Should the tack line be led under or over and in front of or behind the pulpit crossbar? I would prefer not to have to lead a rope back to a coachroof winch (if possible). I would like to be able to gybe the boat by letting the sail fly out forward without the tack line becoming entangled with the pulpit uprights etc.
